Attending any workout, especially for the first time can be intimidating.  Our goal is to create programming and utilize existing programming that helps each individual with their specific needs and goals.

Cookie cutter fitness programming doesn’t work, especially for the long term and for different populations can be high risk.

Our certified indoor cycling team goes through a vigorous training protocol and is required to continue their education.

We have the top of the line, and most popular indoor cycling bike on the market.  Our stages bikes will give you the ability to fit the bike comfortably to your needs and offer you a smooth comfortable experience (well your butt may hurt for a few classes, but it won’t last, promise).

How do we make our classes results driven?

We use stages flight system to monitor your power output.  The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over with no result.  We don’t want that to happen to you here.   We help you to figure out your functional threshold power (FTP) and this helps you to know exactly how hard or easy you should be working throughout your rides.

Work = Force x Distance

If you do not understand the physiology behind power output, you should get to know it.  If you do not have work, you cannot have results.  You can sweat all day on a bike by riding it, however that does not equal efficient results.   If you want the most out of your workouts you need to understand power output.  You need to improve your fitness level continuously, if it stays the same, so will you.

What is functional threshold power (FTP)?

FTP stands for “functional threshold power”, which just means the highest effort you can sustain for a period of time given, without giving into the work.  The effort should be high but sustainable.  For example, the effort you would give for a 3 minute ftp would be much different then if you were given a 20 minute ftp.  However, due to the equation your result will be very similar.  Of course, the longer the ftp the more accurate it becomes.   Stages has developed a way to get a very small standard deviation.

When you have an accurate FTP you will be able to get the most out of your workouts and it will result in the most results.   This goes both ways, not only does an accurate FTP help you to understand how hard you should be working, it also helps you to not work too hard.  It is a number that will improve as you train consistently.  As it improves, so does your fitness level.

Once you receive an accurate FTP you may want to lock it in your profile until you choose to test it again.  If you don’t lock it and participate in a class with an FTP, it will automatically update in your profile.

How do I create a profile?

Go to on a desktop computer

  • Create a log in
  • Enter location codes:
  • Melrose Location code:  YZ392
  • Winchester Location code:  xq290

Once you have an account and you have an FTP, login into your account.

  • Go to My profile-settings-HR/watt
  • Confirm or update FTP
  • Switch lock button from disabled to enabled
  • Scroll to the bottom and click SAVE.
